The REALLY SAD thing about this whole "IDM" genre is that it's basically
based on Aphex and Autechre. The rest of the stuff I hear almost always
either is just noises thrown together rhythmically with no melody(ie:
Richard Devine) , which is completely boring (except for the interesting
sounds) and almost impossible to get into, OR it just sucks; meaning it has
a lack of catchy rhythm or melody making it crap.
The fact is, Autechre and Aphex sometimes suck, and in a lot of cases their
songs just get by the line of being good at all. Sure, they're complex but
what about it being a pleasure to listen to? Isn't music supposed to be
enjoyable? I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy 12 minutes of
repetition with a "few" change ups but very subtle if noticable at all.
It's about time someone made some music without listening to Aphex and
Autechre while they make it to make sure they're doing it "right".
