Daft Punk's song "one more time" is a piece of garbage- don't blame it on the vocoder. The video is a clever use of retarded cartoons- but the song is wretched- -----Original Message----- From: Chris Fahey [mailto:Chris.Fahey@raremedium.com] Sent: Friday, April 27, 2001 10:47 AM To: 'substar@iafrica.com'; djgyn@yahoo.com; idm@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [idm] my red hot car - Autotune/Vocoder

Yeah, it's really sad. The new Squarepusher and the new Daft Punk albums both use this vocoder thang, and although clearly the electronic music scene (and for that matter the Electro Funk scene, going all the way back to Earth Wind & Fire and Zapp) should "own" this sound, I can't help but think every time I hear it "Oh, the Cher Effect". I was so sad to hear Romanthony's voice defiled with that effect. Thanks a lot, Daft Punk... _Cf --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
