Use of guitar sounds and a kind of pillowy ambience that coats their
music. For fans of MBV, I recommend the Portugese musician Rafael Toral
(whose _Wave Field_ sports Loveless-inspired cover art)- great acousmatic
guitar drones which accumulate to a frothy buzz. Check out Sound Mind
Sound Body or Aeriola Frequency. There's also an e.p. length CD on Tom
which contains outtakes from _Aeriola_, but I haven't heard it. It
doesn't actually sound much like MBV, but it comes from a similar place.
It's kind of interesting that Seefeel is mentioned- their best stuff,
while not under-rated per se, draws far less breath on this list as I
would think. The early Too Pure singles are genius, as are their latter
day Warp/Rephlex output (in particular Starethrough and Succour/CH-VOX).
Disjecta are ok, but I find something unsettlingly brittle and jarring
about their records.
