:::::::::::::::::::::::Couchblip!:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::BLIP001CD:::: ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Fresh Australian Styled Electronica for your Listening Pleasure ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: This is the debut release from the new Sydney based electronic label Couchblip! This is a diverse compilation feaaturing music from Disjunction Reunion, Robokoneko and Bloq. This CD incorporates a very individual interpretation of many different styles of electronic music. All three artists experiment with sound on an emotive level through timbre, melody, rhythm and composition while juxtaposing elements from existing musical forms, both traditional and contemporary. Styles range from up-tempo twisted distorted beats to melodic downtempo loungeroom music. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: "An interesting idea for a compilation this one, combining as it does 15 tracks from only 3 artists; Robokoneko, Disjunction Reunion, and Bloq. There's a solidarity (both audible and ambient) which binds the 3 electronic producers and their instrumental works. The music also has quite a bit of warmth considering all 3 are using what I assume are palates of mainly synthetic, rather than naturally occuring and then manipulated sounds (save for the occasional vocal sample)." "Opener 'The Potato Barn' by Bloq (one of my favourites) is a good example using a gorgeous synth-string arrangement in its closing moments that emphasises the melodic element and the ability simple tunefullness has to stir different emotions. All 3 artists seem to have a penchant for experimenting with melodic and rhythmic ideas rather than grooves as well as dropping some crunch and distortion into the mix. That said, it's also a lulling affair, quite easily digested while having plenty in the way of intricacies to keep you attentive."
