You're hearing the original files- it sounds better- Just because something is digital doesn't mean all of it's content is intact. There are several different file formats- and you can argue this untill your blue in the face, so go ahead. And, not all sound systems in clubs are shitty. -----Original Message----- From: Andrei [mailto:andrei@world.std.com] Sent: Monday, April 09, 2001 12:39 PM To: activity@activaire Cc: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] live is always great On Mon, 9 Apr 2001, activity@activaire wrote:

Huh ? You find that a laptop going through a shitty and usually distorted sound system (which is the case the majority of the time) sounds more "pure" then a mastered DAT or aiff/wav files directly transfered to a CD and played over a decent stereo system ? And I'm curious about what an aiff/wav file loses when it's "processed, re-recorded, or dubbed" since at least 2 of those things will no doubt be done digitally ? What the hell does "pure" mean anyway when you're dealing with digitally manipulated sound ?
