It's certainly not as, um, rigorous as later stuff, but there's a certain come-down feel that James nails perfectly under all those bubbling rhythms. Plus, it seems to work as a cohesive whole, which is the general problem I have with most of his albums qua albums (the Caustic Window comp, ironically, is my runner-up fave in this regard). For me, SAW 85-92 always had the textural complexity (and sensory appeal) of baby poo. By the way, Alec Empire's _Limited Editions 90-94_ CD always worked the same sort of magic for me as _Sine Waves_. Just goes to show you that all the hard jammers are all softies at heart, no? -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
