<html><DIV>FRESH FROM DA' TRENCHES!" --- Spike, Leipzig, October 2000.
</DIV>
<DIV></DIV>The Miami and Leipzig-based label, BONIATO, is the formalist
ghetto of the
<DIV></DIV>Beta Bodega Coalition. With gulags in El Salvador, the
Netherlands, Spain,
<DIV></DIV>and the Czech Republic, Boniato is mainly concerned with the
quality of form
<DIV></DIV>and leaves content entirely to the artists.
<DIV></DIV>Boniato's goal is to manufacture only audiophile-quality singles
and LPs of
<DIV></DIV>sound not otherwise captured thus. In keeping with the themes of
the Beta
<DIV></DIV>Bodega Coalition, Boniato's first releases will be communiqu?s
from BBC
<DIV></DIV>operative, Needle; recorded during field exercises in Groningen,
NL and
<DIV></DIV>Berlin, Germany, and cryptanalyzed by such Post-Digital
illuminaries as
<DIV></DIV>V/Vm, Goem, Mixer, General Magic, and Komet (aka Frank
Bretschneider).
<DIV></DIV>Those releases will be followed by the "Booty Glitch" series,
celebrating
<DIV></DIV>Miami Bass and the digital revolution, with releases by Andreas
Berthling
<DIV></DIV>and Mokira (aka Andreas Tilliander), Kim Cascone and Opopop,
Ectomorph and
<DIV></DIV>Sony Mao, and Takeshi Muto and a special guest.
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>In a cooperation with Elegua Records, Boniato will release vinyl
versions of
<DIV></DIV>original soundtracks in the "Electronic Music & the Moving
Image" series.
<DIV></DIV>The first release from Boniato in the series will be "The Man
with a Movie
<DIV></DIV>Camera", an original score by Raster-Noton stalwarts Otto Bender
(aka
<DIV></DIV>Byetone) and Otto Held, for the 1928 film of the same name by
Soviet
<DIV></DIV>director Dzinga Vertov.
<DIV></DIV>In general release will be: a single by ?ivind Ids?, a one-sided
single by
<DIV></DIV>Andreas Berthling, a seven-inch single and 12-inch EP by Goem (a
co-release
<DIV></DIV>of Beta Bodega and Boniato), and a textile release by the Beta
Bodega
<DIV></DIV>Coalition and Counterpoint Garments.
<DIV></DIV>In fall 2001, Beta Bodega and Boniato will co-sponsor the
BBC/Booty Glitch
<DIV></DIV>2001 tour of Europe featuring Needle, Sony Mao, and regional
field agents
<DIV></DIV>such as Goem, Fibla, Full Swing, Mixer, Spike and Phonem.
<DIV></DIV>On March 22, Boniato recording artists Needle and Sony Mao, along
with
<DIV></DIV>cohorts V-8 and the Beta Bodega Coalition, will perform a BBC
field action
<DIV></DIV>at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden for Subtropics 13. On March
24, Needle,
<DIV></DIV>Sony Mao, and Boniato will participate in Infiltrate 3.0 (Needle
was the
<DIV></DIV>only artist to perform live at Infiltrate 1.0 in 1999) at
Churchill's, in
<DIV></DIV>Little Haiti.
<DIV></DIV>On March 26, Infiltrate 3.0 will feature the Miami premiere of
Boniato
<DIV></DIV>recording artist, Swedish sound sculptor Andreas Berthling, at
Mission
<DIV></DIV>(Miami Beach).
<DIV></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>Infiltrate 3.0 is a reaction to the Winter Music Conference 2001.
