Reaktor. Essentially, a pretty front-end for C-sound. C-sound is an audio programming language developed in the early 80's, based largely on C. Extraordinary power. Steep learning curve if you're not familiar with modular synthesis. www.nativeinstruments.com Reason. Ridiculously cool. Instant fun. When you dig into into it it's much more powerful than it may at first seem. www.propellerheads.se Max/Msp. Object oriented audio dis/reintegration. Loverly. As with Reaktor, not for the faint of heart or patience. www.cycling74.com Cubase VST and it's numerous Vst instruments. Getting more and more powerful every few months. Some slick emulations of classic synths and a host of interesting shareware instruments designed by some people who seem to need professional help. This translates into a high level of neato-ness. www.steinberg.net Fun stuff.
