I'd say "Standards" is their least indie-rock / most prog sounding album so far, though I have to say I'm not familiar with "TNT" much at all, though I have the other ones. Sometimes (tracks 3, 6 & 7) it sounds embarrassingly close to "Abacab"-era Genesis imo. The record's got a very 70's vibe. There's also lots of synths and drum processing as well as the usual odd time signatures. Despite some of my criticisms (!?) I've listened to it quite a few times since it came out, which I guess means I like it. Actually it's a very nice listen. As far as the first Tortoise album, if you enjoy "Millions...) you'll probably like the first one.
