i've thought for a while that the camp of idm that focuses on catchy melodies and simple beats (solvent, plone...isolee, even, in the tech-house world) is just a washed-out imitation of jarre, who was making a better version of this music twenty years ago. even his stuff from the early 80's it often not *too* cheesy... i would recommend to all, check out 'the essential jmj' (with 'oxygene', 'equinoxe', 'magnetic fields'...). for something rather different, check funkstorung's remix of his song 'c'est la vie' he did with natacha atlas. a bit messy, but pretty. yayyy funkstorung for acknowledging this old master. .af.
