I'll hold off on the Vainio solo vs. Panasonic comparisons, but yes - the Rotgen and Kvantti 12"ches are great. Luckily they were reissued on CD, (w/exclusives) so all can take part. I think the originals were <1000 pressing each? I seriously doubt that he has given up his solo work.. he's been pretty active recently, although his solo stuff has been more ambient than his minimal beat-fests under 0 etc... who knows if this is a temporary vice or if he's really off the minimal techno bandwagon. I'm hoping he's just been kept busy touring as Pan_sonic. Haven't heard enough to Ilpo Vainesen's solo stuff to comment - PJ hasn't sent my order out yet :) Confession: it's a tie between Panasonic's "osasto EP" and Kentolevi (Vainio)'s "Keimola EP" for best driving music ever pressed on a 12". (if you want to drive hazardously) He's not as prolific as Brinkmann - but that's fine by me. I don't have the budget to keep up with Mr. Brinkmann anyhow.
