My suggestions (aside from cLOUDEAD/Them/Dose One and Company Flow, which is where this thread started I think) would be the Valis I compilation on Subharmonic, Ice's "Bad Blood" album (although I personally hated it, and I'm an enormous Kevin Martin fanatic), Funkstorung (another one I personally don't feel), and Prefuse73's "Estrocaro E.P." (which I only last week discovered I've been playing at the wrong speed, but I can't get into it at 45 for some reason). Although not *real* out there, Def Harmonic (on Wobblyhead Records) are definately not mundane. If by 'hip hop' you simply mean breakbeat, check out anything by Q-Bert/Invisibl Skratch Pikelz, Mr. Dibbs/1200 Hobos (particularly the amazing 'Presage' album), or DJ Krush (I think its safe to assume everyone and their mom knows about DJ Shadow already). Naturally opinions are bound to differ, but Kool Keith and Anti-Pop Consortium are just being different for the sake of it, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but experimentation it is not. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
