Anyone in commercial hiphop has long since abandoned the ability to take hiphop anywhere. The last interesting thing done by a major artist was ODB.

Why involve race at all? It's not whites or blacks that can decide where hip hop goes, it's the real heads. Regardless of colour, it's the rabid hiphop fanatics that will take it to new places.

I'm a rabid Anticon fan, but I'm by no means similar to your description. I have about 6 crates packed full of just hiphop, not exactly a casual collection. Everyone I've ever met that was equally enthusiastic about Anticon is just as big of a hip hop fan as me, and I think that counts for something.
