Actually, this is the best way I've seen it done, really. I got this
instrument off of a Reaktor group; it's made by Benelli who did remixes for
Nine Inch Nails, and I think has a record coming out on Hefty records. it's
a totally simple instrument that can simulate everything from marbles in a
mug to a pin dropping on glass, all through synthesis. Click on any
controller for a description, or read the info page by clicking the "i"
button. Smoother than RDJ's thing, the numbers are right, but it's a little
different, so, don't expect bucephalus boucnig balls. It's pretty much a toy
in that that is all it can do, but within the context of reaktor it's pretty
cool.
Oh-and for autechre's "trick", just take two heavy glasses, maybe pint
glasses, hold them in the air, one in each hand, and bounce them together at
their bases and let them bounce away! Math my ass!!! It's still the
coolest track ever, so it's ok if they lie! Tons of little wankers like me
(and you guys) have tried to imitate cichlisuite and failed miserably...
thanks benelli...
hope this helps
