yeah, i had the same reaction. the first one seemed to nod at a few
different styles (dub and techno), but this new one is jazz. i think i'm
more impressed by the "how'd they do that?" factor than the actual music.

late 4 Hero can only be described as an acquired taste. i agree that it's
pretty damn silly at times, and i often get the feeling that they're
overstepping their talent, i.e. their tunes should be better in order to
justify a string section and all those black jazz/fusion/soul trappings.
but when they're on, they're on. sometimes, though, i wish they'd just get
to the point and stop showing us how well they've reined in all the
elements.
