for what it's worth: every punter (ie not really into idm) person that
i've talked to about the new photek *hates* it. that doesn't seem to jibe
with the fear that astralwerks is somehow pimping hyper-commercialized
output from him.
i don't think joe raver kid has any more interest in hearing photek do up
classic chicago-style house than they have interest in hearing the
originators do it. now, if for some reason the new photek sounded like
fbs, or moby, or crystal method i'd be hurt and angry. but i hardly see
his new stuff as capitualting to the masses. if anything it's so square
that only those who "get it" will get it. i think it's brilliant,
personally, but i'm inclined to that kind of stuff.
