quoted 1 line you don't like d'n'b then>you don't like d'n'b then
i said that? oh, i guess i did :) oh well, i do make exceptions: squarepusher, jega, pre-house photek, and datach'i of course :) although i do tend to steer clear of d+b, i couldn't possibly deny that there have been some very good releases in the past few years, simply because there's so much d+b in the world now!... just considering its immense size, some of it's bound to be good, even if it's only 10% of the releases. like i said, it's a rash, it's everywhere! :)

my comment here was a little misleading. what i meant was, it discourages me when non-d+b artists suddenly decide to experiment with d+b breaks and d+b culture. as far as i know, 75% of the artists you mentioned above actually got their start making some form of d+b (excluding their earlier pre-record deal material). that would make your comment above only 25% relevant, and not a worthy 25% i might add. IMO, _richard_d._james_album_ is a stain in aphex's catalogue. though it might have been a well-received release, i wouldn't say it was any kind of musically enhancing stepping stone in his career. that album didn't make mr. james a better musician.

perhaps your perception of time isn't quite sound. notice i wrote, "few artists coming out now" - keyword being _now_. now is not the early/mid nineties, which is when the artists you mentioned above surfaced with d+b material. these guys have been around for a while; they established themselves as drum 'n' bass years ago, not recently. anyhow, i appreciate your reply, flawed as it may be ;) will simmons Cipolin Structure Radio http://www.geocities.com/cipolinstructure/ _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
