I'm afraid I have to agree with a lot of this. The sound systems were awesome: really tight, not too much bass (some engineers get carried away), but then you'd expect Warp to have a good PA. The visuals in the Skam building were cool...to start with, but they stayed the same for the whole time. The main building was disappointing, especially for the strange walls right in the middle, which got in everyone's way What really pissed me off was the fact that I couldn't find a schedule for the show anywhere. And from the people I spoke to, nobody had any idea when particular artists were gonna be on. This was frustrating as by the time I heard that Autechre were on, I'd missed most of the set. But they weren't that great anyway. Someone in the main building played some pretty intense tweaked drum'n'bass tunes - a la Squarepusher - the remix of Amazon II "Big Booyaa". Nice, but the original was better. Was that Bogdan who played that? I think it was around 3am, and he was wearing a blue t-shirt with some black symbol in the middle. He was jumping around like a lunatic. During that set, I went outside and saw Richard James, and had a little chat with him about Impulse Tracker, of all things. Nice guy, but it was kinda surreal talking to him. The only time I've seen his face before was on small schoolgirls, and fine women in string bikinis. Very odd experience seeing him in the flesh. But yeah, very nice guy. Anyway...I asked him when he was playing, and he told me he'd already played. Which appears to be a total lie. We'd left by 5.45 out of boredom, and extreme cold. Overall, it was an interesting night, but not something I would do again. G-love. http://www.gram.org.uk --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
