whatever works.
i think the akai range sound good. none of the current samplers on the
market score a 10, not even an 8. the akai's have great transient response,
the filters are o.k., but it was the ram expandability that sold me the akai
S5/6's over the new emus. not quite the same sort of possibilities as with
the filter matrix on the emus, but even they still don't score high in
fidelity in my book.
it's all a matter of what you do with them.
want a great sounding sampler, look for a EMAX II. outstanding filter!
minimal sampling time even when they are maxed out with (gasp) 8megs, but
they sing.
