IMHO, macs are great for making music, but also IMO don't waste your time with anything less than around a 300 Mhz Power PC processor, unless you get it for free or something, even then, it might be hard to find 68k software to do what you want. I mean why not use an Atari 1040 ST if you wanna go retro... the timing for midi is supposed to be rock solid... and I think they have built in midi ports. Anyway, you can probably get an older iMac or other G3 for really cheap now, check online... ultimatemacintosh.com is a good starting point for lots of resources. cheers Atom
