well, from what i've heard of the 30 second sample of "kid for today" that
they had on their website (and have mysteriously taken down.. heh heh), it
sounds similar to their older material, but perhaps less melancholic and
more thoughtful...?
the dreamy sample from the warp flyer for the release is also from "kid for
today", so if nothing else, they're "lusher" than before. i'm sure that
it's definitely going to sound like a BOC release.
the only other thing that boards of canada has experimented with is using
voices for melody, such as the two very nice vocal-oriented (in a boc way)
tracks from their warp is 10 party bootleg (the unreleased ones, #2 and
#3). but both still sounded very "boc'ish".
i think it will be pleasantly different from their past material, but
nostalgically similar ;)
and i'm sure the new ae will be even more derivative from their past
material (yay!)
