Being a little general aren't we...
No one is saying that if someone uses a specific piece
of gear that it is copying another artist.
I think artists should use gear to make unique sounds.
Optical for instances has talked about abusing their
equipment, using it completely fucked up to make
different sounds.
Perhaps software has made things too easy, and people
experiment less. With actual gear I think people
might be more proned to experiment and fuck things up.
Maybe I am wrong..

There's a hell of a lot of difference between classic
rock and a band like My Bloody Valentine. I think the
difference is that MBV wanted had a vision and wanted
to sound unique.

Yeah your right, but that doesn't mean you should
follow another artists style like a roadmap. It's
great to be influenced just don't use their recipe and
call it your own.

You must be under the impression no one blatantly
copies another. I don't know how many times I have
heard clone bands over the years. It kind of give me
shivers thinking of all the Cure or REM clone bands I
have heard. I guess because all the parties had the
same instruments...it had nothing to do with copying.
It was some sort of coincidental osmosis of gear &
thoughts.
