With all due respect to the Ae boyz, I take issue with any type of statement like "X is a lot more talented than most of us."... I sincerely believe that for every truly talented artist that is well known, there are 99 equally "talented" artists that are completely unknown -- or perhaps don't even realize how talented they are -- or just exist in the wrong place or wrong time. I won't deny that Autechre push the limit, but I think even they would cringe at the thought they are *the* pinnacle of talent in a particular musical field.. Luck/chaos/right time right place/etc. has at least partially to do with why they are popular. Luck/chaos/right time right place has a lot to do with why any high profile artists are popular.

For the record, I enjoy Lexaunculpt (and a slew of other "Autechre rip offs") more than Autechre. It's not that I think Lex and the gang are "better" than Ae, or vice versa. But I find Lex's stuff more enjoyable than Autechre's... though I appreciate the influence Ae's had on lots of folks.
