I just wanted to give this a mention, as I bought it a few weeks ago and it's hardly left my cd player since then. I haven't seen any comments here about it, so I thought I'd demonstrate my poor reviewing skills and give it a few comments... :) Various - Constant Friction Collaborations 2 (Lo) I didn't see the first in this series, but I guess it was along similar lines to this - a load of artists pair up and make a track. There's a fair few names I don't recognise on here but also quite a lot I'm sure we've all heard of (plaid, cylob, squarepusher, hrvatski, kid 606). The tracks are all quite varied so it can jump from one thing to another a bit, but I think this is part of its strength rather than a weakness. I've certainly found some good stuff on here that I wouldn't have listened to otherwise. Stand out tracks for me would have to be Plaids collaboration with Addie Brik (bit weird to start with, but grows on you), Twisted Science and Void's deadly dark d'n'b, and Richard Thomas and Squarepushers Plate Core (from the I Am Carnal...12" that got good reactions on here a while ago). Oh, and track 4 too, but I can't remember who that ones by! :) I don't know how indicative this comp is of Lo's output, but it's certainly made them a label I'll be keeping my eye on. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
