Good point. It seems to be a concoction of lots of samples from a variety of latin (and probably also some 'exotica') records creating a kind of homogenized pan-latin sound. You can't really say it's salsa or merengue or samba or whatever because it's not even a real band anyway. Interestingly, this is basically how Martin Denny worked - take bits and peices of 'exotic' music (mostly latin american) and blend them together into something somewhat familiar, somewhat alien.
