`been playing tetris, for all I know.. But, the guy before him had a few `toys along with his laptop: some sort of touch-sensitive pad, a small `keyboard (?) and a toy turntable (plus other stuff?). This guy was really `getting into it and he was fun to watch and listen to. He had a overhead `projector that he used to display the algorithm for each "piece" of music. `I believe he was using Max on his laptop... your are referring to randy jones aka 2up technologies and member of *polar. he used a touchtek pad, a laptop running max, a pc1600 slider box, and toy turntable for one piece and that is pretty much it. randy is one of more interesting musicans i know. also is one of the main forces behind the onadime software, which if you like to create visual pieces is one of the best applications i've seen, makes xpose look like the kiddie toy it is. if you have every been to aro.space, it is installed there. `Lex played a few tunes that I had not heard before... One memorable one `included the "Fuck tha police" sample from NWA (?). I am not sure if Lex `uses other hardware besides his computer in the studio, but it would make `his shows a lot more entertaining if he has a few more things to play with `on stage... ;) lex uses different hardware and software in the stuff, but live it is all max. fuck tha police was done for the comp that recently came out but wasn't. too bad as lex's take on it is head's and shoulders above what did make it on the comp. your right though, laptop rockin isn't the most interesting thing to watch. regardless, though i had a great time seeing randy and alex play live (though the opening bastard should have been shot for making people listen to that noise.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
