i'm interested in these two bands/people/objects and was wondering if
someone could recommend good first purchases. bentcrayon has the
dopplereffekt "gesamtkunstwerk" release - any good? and i found a couple
drexycia CD/LPs, namely the one on submerge, "the quest" (1997) and one on
tresor, "neptune's lair" (1999). unfortunately i am still limited to CDs
only, but would appreciate any and all recs/reviews.
finally, i picked up reload - "a collection if short stories" last
weekend, and it's quite good. somewhat oldschool idm (whatever that means)
with a good mix of beats and beatlessness, melodies and ambience, harsh
and gentle textures. that may sound like a wishy-washy assessment, but
this album really does go all over the map. if you've been thinking about
buying this, don't hesitate. btw, it doesn't really sound like the "on"
remix at all. unfortunate maybe, but still good stuff.
