Uhm, did you read the reply? He said that Michael Jackson's thriller was IDM in a sense, and I told him that he was wildly incorrect. So your assertion about it not being IDM only backs my claim.

I didn't think the reply was "silly". I think it was a good reminder to look
back and give another listen to older stuff that helped shape and influence
what we have now. I also agree that that stuff stands on it's own. Just
because it's not IDM, doesn't mean it's stupid to look at it with wonder for
the artistry that's in there.
