That sounds about as interesting as Kenny G overdubbing himself over Louis
Armstrong. Tell me this is a joke.
The Laswell Miles Davis dub thing was pushing it, but at least it wasn't
completely out of left field like a 'Naima' remix. I have severe doubts
that 4 Hero are in the same league as Coltrane, and I find it downright
offensive of them to take it upon themselves to rework a MASTERPIECE.
What a bunch of fucking jerks.
If Coltrane was still alive, I really doubt he'd want people remixing his
songs. I'm really surprised they got the rights to do it (but the label
probably owns all the rights anyway.)
Fans of "Naima" should check out "Amian" which is (obviously) "Naima"
played backwards, the melody, the changes, everything, it's cool. He did
it because he was under contract with Atlantic but recorded this one on a
date for Prestige. I prefer the Impulse! recordings myself, he was a lot
better after he got off heroin, IMO.
