In general - both formats. Cd exposes a crisper digital dynamic range/ vinyl
gives a warmer/ analog sound. Also, there is a decay factor for vinyl which
over time tends to mature in sound (like a good wine). Specifically, I prefer
the digital format for electronics, ambient and live recordings. For techno,
house and jazz oriented music, I perfer vinyl for a more robust 'bottom end'
sound. And for the mixability factor too! I tend to have 2 copies of classic
releases. For example, the Speedy J - G spot LP on vinyl is good for straight
up techno tracks such as G-Spot, Ping Pong and Fun Equations, where more
ambient tracks such as Extruma, Lanzarote and Treatments sound excellent on
CD.
Thanks for taking in this point of view.
