Things are shaping up nicely -- I've got 16 loops uploaded, and more will be showing up daily. I'm surprised I haven't heard from more of you, but the 4 people I've already recruited have done a good job. For you IDM'ers with reasonably modern PCs and Sound Cards, I'd HIGHLY recommend checking out Acid Music by Sonic Foundry. You can get a demo at http://www.sonicfoundry.com It costs $99.95 direct (79.99 at places like Best Buy) and has everything the $399 Acid Pro has except support for Direct X plugins and 'acidising' files. Acid makes it a no-brainer to arrange loops into tracks, and supports very good non-destructive editing -- you can zoom into one measure of a track, and totally cut up and rearrange it, then save it to a new file, where you can run off-line editors to mess it up further. If anyone really cares enough to ask nicely, I can 'acidize' these files and place uncompressed wav files at idrive.com -- this makes them respond to time stretching a little better. Oh, and I have first dibs on totally abusing Acid's time stretch/pitch shift as an IDM(r) Sound Effect. Pretty soon you'll be hearing that all over in tracks, replacing the Hyperprism Sonic Decimator as the sound-mangler for Y2K. kent williams -- kent@avalon.net --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
