agreed w/ most of the above list... reckless- vinyl is good, but the way they display the cds is the worst system ever! The Virgin megastore downtown. didn't have to spend much time in there before i knew it was *way* overpriced. don't bother. i have to recommend one more shop: Dusty Groove (~milwaukee/division). great for new and rare hip-hop, funk, soul, latin, jazz, acid jazz, brazillian.... mostly vinyl, some cds. good prices on new stuff. goto dustygroove.com to get a feel of what the stock.

yeah, i agree completely. no vinyl. good magazine selection. a good friend of mine lives on the adjacent corner so I manage to stop in just about every time i'm over there (bad news for the wallet). then again, i went there recently to get the new We cd. Even though their computer said 7 were in stock, no one could find it *anywhere*. just to clarify, it's on Clark and Belden (2300 n. just south of Fullerton). oh, one more. Evil Clown (~3400 n halsted) in the heart of boys town, land of rainbow-clad phallic structures lining the street. decent selection of cds, no vinyl. you can preview any cd you like.
