I don't know what Spooky is up to these days, but when Gargantuan first
came out, NME or Melody Maker gave a very favorable review, saying it's
way better than anything made by Aphex Twin (who was just beginning to
emerge, with SAW1). The same issue of the weekly had a tiny, grainy
photo of RDJ above the dance 12" chart. I remember listening to SAW1 and
loving it and looking at the picture and thinking who the fudge is this
guy?
I think that issue of NME / MM also had something about B12's
Electro-Soma, how it makes Aphex Twin sound like Kylie Minogue. Still
brings a smile to my face thinking about that line.
