SOMA: I love IDM, but I find that often after having let it dominate my thoughts and time on my stereo, the one aspect of my life that seems unfulfilled is romantacicim. RJ: Eat chocolate when you listen to IDM. That should solve everything. What is it about IDM that dominates your thoughts? I think a lot about music, mostly what is coming out that week or what shows to see. Are you trying to add some sort of philosophical content with regard to artists/music or genres? I just want to see where your coming from? SOMA: I REALLY do get a feeling of unattachment for people (with a few acception eg. boygirl song, flim flam, tortoise, savath +savalas Some to ro coco rot). Does IDM ever make you feel like part of the lost generation?? RJ: I personally don't think the music you listen to would have anything to do with it. I think whatever you are really passionate about can alienate you a little from other people. However, I think some personality types do gravitate to certain styles of music. I don't feel like I have much in common with the "average joe", because I don't accept everything put in front of me. That is pretty much my nature to question everything. I don't like a lot of crap movies or major label music. And something like 90% of the people that I run into (other than friends) accept that stuff as being good. Why? That is one I don't understand or really even care to understand. SOMA: Or am just going though a steril period. RJ: Time to switch from briefs to boxers. Yohimbe can help you get wood. Sorry, I had to make a joke :) SOMA: I think I'm going to blast some Dinosaur Jr. sonic youth, Fugazi and Mazzy star for a while. RJ: Sonic Youth is always good! SOMA: Some time I feel like IDM gives me no emotion other than interset in IDM. RJ: I disagree. I think Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works Vol 2, some Autechre, Beaumont Hannant - Texturology, and much more all have alot of emotion in it. It's kind of melancholic. Melancholic isn't very sexy to some people. SOMA: Sometime I want more. I need an un quantized human touch. Mayde darkside of the moon is what I'm looking for, maybe some sea and cake. HELP! Am I the only one that gets like this some times?! RJ: I don't think music is the issue, it's more how you approach life. If your life is only to record stores and listening to tunes, then it makes it harder to meet people. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
