Here's some music news about a handful of different artists that might be of interest to many here...
- Plug Reserach is also poised to release some impressive new releases. The first is a two part compilation called Voices in My Lunchbox Vols 1&2 on which wellknown electronic artists experiment with vocals. Volume one of this two part series features Pole, Carmen Tejada, Kit Clayton, and Smyglyssna. Pole's remix of the Quarks track licensed from the Monica label in Berlin is quite exceptional. Pole adds Japanese vocals to his signiture pops & clicks. Carmen Tejada shows son John, who produced the track, that her operatic vocals will also work on his electronic production. Kit Clayton adds vocals to a melodic dub track that flows very well. Also Mr. Smyglyssna uses the beautiful voice of Cornelia to structure an absolutely brilliant peace of music. The artists on this comp show us that vocals can still be a healthy instrument in the making of unconventional home based electronic music. Voices in My Lunchbox Volume Two will feature vocal tracks from Sluts, Strings, and 909 , Chicks On Speed vs. Potuznik & Bauer, Jamie Hodge, and Ectomorph. Expect both volumes to be out in the next few months. Also on the PR horizion is a Vainqueur ep.
- Detroit Escalator Company will have a 4-track ep out on Transmat in late spring. DEC will also have two new tracks on the forthcoming Transmat compilation.
- John Beltran will be releasing an album on Transmat in the next few months called Indio. It contains nine tracks in the style of his previous Beltran and Placid Angles releases.
- Arovane just released a 7" on the new City Centre Offices label out of german. The release contains two tracks, "Occer" and "Silicad," and is limited to 500 copies. At the end of April Arovane will release his third ep on the Din label called Arovane Amx. The ep will contain arovane's remixes of dynamo's track "Aussen Vor" and Various Artist's track "No.8" as well as several new tracks. Din will also release an Arovane cd in the summer of 1999.
- A-Musik's next few releases will be a cd by Felix Kubin and a 7" by Terre Thaemlitz. The next release for the Sonig label will be another Mouse On Mars 12". Plus a new Sieben label 12" will be by Olaf Rupp who also records as Stol on the Yo Kitty label.
- Kit Clayton has a busy release schedule in the next few months. He has eps coming out on Parallel, Delay, Phthalo, Mimic & the Model, and Cytrax plus an album on Dropbeat as well as several compilation appearances. Kit's Cytrax label also has three eps lined up for spring
release by Sutekh, DJ Jasper, and Kit himself.
- Isophlux is getting ready to start cranking out releases now that the label is a fulltime venture. Coming in april expect the long overdue Isophlux Dirty America comp as well as eps from new artists Jeff Mollwain and Protocol. Expect a more regular release schedule soon after that.
