wow... this new susumu yokota (magic thread, on leaf) is really something.
i'd always thought of him as a house producer, but this album, at least, is
really rich, creaking ambience with beats. maybe it's just the name, but i
do feel like i hear a specifically japanese quality in the sound -- that
kind of rippling, warbly timbre used by early ken ishii and current-day
reflections...
beautiful.
