Lance summed it up a few weeks ago, like this:
<The original concept 1 records & cd by richie hawtin
have a wierd minimal techno flavor. on the brinkmann
variations thomas does some amazing things with the
depth and intricacy of the tracks giving them a great
basic channel feel. the Concept 1 96 Brinkmann
Variations cd will be one of my top 5 of 98.>
Went to my local vendor in search of the Brinkmann who rummaged around in the back and brought ought what appeared to be Hawtin's Concept 1 CD (it has the white and red cover design that he's used on a couple of CDs) - I said I didn't think that was the right thing - does the Brinkmann version have his name on it? Legibly?
Is it silly to get the Brinkmann without having Hawtin's original?
Also there's a Juryman vs. Spacer CD that's been in the used bin for awhile - sorry if that's not enough info for anyone to make a recommendation - I think there was a similar discographical question a few days ago.
Thanks,
