after a few weeks (or is it months?) reading all the ranting and raging
that's been going on here, something occurred to me the other day about
auctions and trading music etc.
I'm presuming a lot of the people doing the attacking / belittling of people
who undertake auctions/sales/trades whatever...are either artists or
"important" DJs. One thing you might like to remember is that the very
people you castigate for selling/trading music are the very people who "buy"
your own music and therefore create your "livelihood". For instance, I
subbed to the list about a year and a half ago...never heard of Chocolate
Industries/ Schematic/ Toshoklabs et al, shit even Skam didn't rate that
highly on my purchases list (!) But after undertaking my first few trades I
began to discover all these labels/artists that had previously escaped my
attention and I have to say I was (am) hooked. Over the past year especially
I've never "Bought" so much music in my life! I also have traded/sold a load
of stuff too...I like the way it works. Fuck, I would never even heard of
"Dated" ... imagine that!?!
As just a "collector" rather than a "creator" of great music maybe my
opinion seems unworthy to you, but maybe some of the reactions round here
are turning people off...and us collectors certainly have a big part to play
in the success of this music/list.....just a thought.
cheers.
