I happen to think that _The_Mix_ is one of the only retrospective remix
albums worth having. I think casting the originals in a new light was a
brilliant stroke. The best thing about them is that they do not negate the
power of the originals at all, but stand beside them as an example of just
how timeless the material is, while sounding reasonably contemporary at the
same time. Categorizing it as "cheese" is certainly way off, IMHO. If you
never heard the originals, these tracks sound great by themselves. If you
have, then they are newer takes on the same great themes. Either way,
Kraftwerk updates itself for the 90s. Mission accomplished.
