Funny..
me and my roomates had a simple house party a little while ago, and most
of the people who came were your avg raver/dance music kids. well by the
time I went on i was feeling lousy (sick + sleep deprivation). so I
started out by spinning cologneish stuff. Like I told another DJ there,
it will be techno but without any strong beats. The general reaction was
'what the fuck are you playing?'
I dunno, I kinda got off on making everyone uncomfortable since it was
almost good to dance to, but really monotonous and abstract (i.e. no
easily recognizable samples or sounds).
But whatever, I had fun freaking the kids out.
so if there's one bit of knowledge I came away from wrt the night, it's
that IDM and coke just don't mix. ;)
