v/a - "The Corners of the Mouth" (BC-014) Mouse on Mars - Funkytiste Oval - Polygon Med Pak Hearing Is Our Concern - Fragmented Seefeel - Filter Dub (Low Pass Mix) Moby/Voodoo Child - Frog AUBE - Gloriole Mice Parade - Peeking Around The Corner E.A.R. - Orpheus (for Ghazala, Subotnik and Zinovieff) The Phillistines Jr. - The Annual Convention of Unemployed Spies (White Suit Version) Scanner - My Lost Love Hunting Your Lost Face (Soft Shift Mix) The Dylan Group - Decay Got this in the mail yesterday. After one (rushed) listen, the tracks seem to be of generally high quality. A wide range of styles coexist, which could be an asset or a liability depending on your tastes- I dig it. The packaging doesn't mention whether these tracks as a whole are exclusive or "previously unreleased". The MoM track isn't off of 'autoditacker', but may well have come from a single or one of the Mouse's (many) other recent releases ('Instrumentals' LP out now, and the l@n release). The Oval track, crediting only Markus Popp, is almost certainly previously unreleased. It follows on from their earlier work (and the Microstoria releases), but represents a new kind of sound for Oval- still beautifully noisy but without the foreground of CD-pops and skips they had previously employed. The rest of the tracks range from semi-this-listy efforts (Moby/Voodoo Child, Scanner) to drone-workouts (AUBE, E.A.R.) to Bubble Core's own indie-experimental style (Mice Parade, Dylan Group). - Brad Shelton bshelton@cte.net
