It's not. It's simply called paying upfront, which is pretty normal
practice in the mailorder business. It happens all the time, but
normally you don't notice it, because the time between charging the
credit card and sending out the package is short (sometimes even
nil).
As for this whole MFR-affair: Stuart may be a little sloppy at times
when it comes to responding to email, but I've dealt with him on a
number of occasions, including orders of nearly 100 UKP and I trust
him completely. I agree though that the current situation is
unacceptable to many MFR-customers, but instead of this barrage of
emails, don't you think it would be better to simply call him and ask
him what's going on? If he's too busy for some reason or other (even
considered a computer crash?), do you think that he has time to read
all this, if he's still subbed at all ? And if the US customers
don't want to pay hefty international phone charges, I'm sure there
are MFR customers in the UK that could drop Stuart a line and ask him
to explain things on IDM (and G-Tech).
