Well I gotta admit that I've seriously lost touch with rap/hip-hop in the last 5 or 6 years - haven't bought a disc in the genre since the second Cypress Hill - but everything I've heard that this Puff Daddy guy has been involved in has sounded pretty crappy to me. On the other hand, I read a review of this Master P guy that makes it sound like he's the real shit, so...

Fuck yeah, Frank's the man! Even despite the sound glitches, this album is da bomb.

Went to see Mel a couple of years back, and even though he can't hit all the high notes any more, he still had it goin' on. Glad I saw him when I did, too, since he's apparently pretty ill. Anyway, here's my contribution to this thread of recent non-IDM purchases: Smash Mouth [actually, my girlfriend bought it, but it's pretty rockin'] V/A - Ultra-Lounge: Wild Cool & Swinging Too [and a couple others from the latest batch of six] Royal Crown Revue - "The Kings of Gangster Bop" [excellent nouveau-jump-swing stuff that I discovered in Boston - and it was recorded in '91 well before the whole "lounge" craze hit] I'm sure there's more, but I'm drawing a blank...
