nothing much to add to lance's excellent summarisation cept to say that e2-e4 was recorded in 1981, a true formative moment in the evolution of techno, a staple of mixmaster morris & alex patterson's pioneering chill out sets in the late 80's gottsching was the pivotal member of ashra temple [guitarist], one of the definitive early 70's 'kraut rock' outfits, unlike contempories can & kraftwerk's mantric rhythmic hypnotics or amon duul's sprawling free-jazz folk jams, ashra were more on a stratospheric psychedelic trip, check out their wild live album with timothy leary [7-up] or any other releases from 70-76 maurizio's 'domina' was also based on an ashra track from 1976 derrick may's remix is [awesome], next to 'icon' i think it's the best thing he has done, the introduction rises and falls from breathtaking towering crescendos for a full 5 minutes before the beat emerges like a killer whale surfacing for air... stuart @ mfr -- http://dialspace.dial.pipex.com/mfr/ cutting edge mail order..elecktronic label [esoteric, non-generic material wanted]
