I don't think it's a problem with comprehension. More likely people either
don't believe that the situation is as straightforward as you claim it is, or
simply don't care.
If GPR really did sit on the album for a year without releasing it, I don't
have much sympathy for them, regardless of any formal legal obligation Slater
might have to them. He may have a *moral* obligation to repay his advance but
nothing beyond that (and not even that if his contract with GPR said that
rights to album would revert to him under certain conditions he believes have
been met).
Too many tiny indies are willing to use their size as an excuse to mistreat
their artists -- I'm certainly not going to assume that GPR is in the right
just because Daniel Miller has more money than they do!
