I know where you're coming from, and I agree completely: fuck it.
Here's what I can tell you: you either (1) go back to school or (2) do
music. If you do music, you either (1) do it as a hobby and get a day job
or (2) make IT your job and work your ass off getting set up in the
industry. You are NOT going to make a career out of the
underground/IDM/esoterica/experimental scene. (OK, it can be done, but I
can count on one hand the people in the world who have pulled it off, and
they were incredibly lucky, rich, or smart.) You have to get smart and
study the industry and network to find something that will support what you
want to do, or go back to school to get the skills and degree to do same.
