Markant #5 has really acidy filtered beats and synth lines.. But I can see the development into trite-sounding IDM progressing up from #5. Who knows, sometimes artists hit it on the head and, well, sometimes they miss. Yeah, "sad sounding".. where's the IDM version of emo rock? Or perhaps without guitars or lyrics it doesn't translate too well.

Naff == Wack, weak, lame, "lacking in essential qualities" if we get technical. I think it's an english term? I must have picked it up when I lived in the UK for 6 months in middle school. So perhaps it's massively outdated, but I still say "rad", so maybe it's better not to listen to me.
