I was looking through my old CDs last night and came upon a wonderful
EP that I got with the most recent Cocteau Twins album - it's called
"otherness" and is 4 Cocteau Twins tracks "Re-Cycled by Mark Clifford".
When I got the CD I had no idea who Mark Clifford was (I was into
idm-type music like FSOL, AFX, Autechre etc but not on the list and not
knowledgeable about other fantastic stuff like mu-ziq and Seefeel and so
on.) But I must say this is really beautiful music. Having Liz Frazer's
voice over electronica reminds me of the Lifeforms EP by FSOL of course,
but these really are just remixes, cut up very interestingly with
drum-machines and interesting sounds added. He turns "Violaine" into
something very dubby, lovely.
My only problem with Seefeel/Disjecta is that it gets a bit repetitive
after a while, which is fine with something as gorgeous as "Spangle"
(from AI II) but... But hey, that's a characteristic of most techno
anyway isn't it? Must be my classical background coming through. Sorry.
Well just thought I'd share this with you as it hasn't been mentioned
during my time on this list.
