Just recieved a promo copy of Speedy J 'Shocking
Hobby' album on Novamute. On first impressions, maybe
a little one dimensional, but subsequent listens
reveal a real depth. Relentless stuff for the most
part, with exceedingly high gain levels running on
half-time electro/ hip hop breaks, Jochem's paranoid
landscapes become more lush as the album progresses,
track 9 'sabina seat' providing one of the few
similarities to his recent output on Fax.
And sorry to revisit an old thread, but what's the
general opinion on Jake Mandell's 'Quandom Current'?
Yet to pick it up, just seeing reactions after a month
in everyone's headspace...
