Just slightly off topic but there is a marvellous story of how Tom Waits lost the master tapes for some material he was working on. As he and the studio engineer tried to work out where the stuff may have got to, a journalist in the studio admitted to having a multi-generation copy of the stuff that a friend of a friend of his had dubbed from the studio master while cleaning up one night. My hat off to Tom Waits, however, as he ended up using the tape copy for the basis of one of the tracks on the album he was working on (can't remember which one...) quite happily. Imho, the man's a genius :) This is somewhat unlikely to work as the basis in the defence of a copyrighting case however ;) Rubyjune.
